Will I need a piano to begin lessons on?

Piano lessons are ideally practiced on an upright or grand piano. However, the purchase of a piano can be quite a substantial investment, especially for a beginner student. Students can begin lessons with keyboards that have weighted keys or a digital piano, both of which are acceptable to begin lessons on.  They will also come with the added advantage of having a headphones attachment for quiet rehearsing and will not need to be regularly tuned. Eventually, it will be advised that practice shifts to a standard acoustic piano, dependent on which make and model of keyboard / digital piano you purchase.
