What will I need to start learning the drums?

The minimum requirement for your first lesson is a pair of sticks and a drum practice pad. However, not more than a term into lessons, students will require a full kit to practice all the new beats and grooves they will be learning in class.

Will drums be too loud for a family home?

It is true that an acoustic drum kit in a standard family home could be intrusively loud; however there are many affordable options for rehearsing in a home without being excessively loud. There is treatment for an acoustic kit that will dampen the sound output, and also a range of electronic drum kits that can be rehearsed with headphones on.
